Installation of a roof window

Establishing opening

Adjust the position of the window

upwards/downwards depending on type of

ﬂashing.

In roofs with:

• proled roong materials, allow for a full

course of tiles below the window.

• slates, ensure necessary overlap between

slates and ﬂashing, see page 77 and instal-

lation instructions.

When deciding ﬁnal position and dimen-

sions of the hole in the roof surface, add

20-30 mm on all sides to allow for correct

insulation around the frame. Deﬁne hole at

top and bottom with installation battens

and at sides with rafters as shown in the

installation instructions.

HOLE IN UNDERFELT AND CEILING

FINISH

Rooﬁng felt can be cut as shown and folded

in order to ensure water tightness.

In a roof with an existing ceiling ﬁnish,

project frame dimensions perpendicular to

the ceiling ﬁnish and mark. Cut hole. It is

necessary to cut a temporary hole in order

to install window.

Note that it must be possible to re-estab-

lish the vapour barrier within the existing

roof construction (if present) with the new

vapour barrier around the window.

The ﬁnal adjustments of the hole in the

ceiling ﬁnish should not be made until

installation of lining.
